The Recreational Boating Safety Visitation Program (RBSVP) is an outreach program that connects businesses with an Auxiliary program visitor who can provide information, resources, and training opportunities to help businesses promote safe, responsible, and legal boating practices to their customers. Program visitors are members of the Auxiliary specially trained and certified to work with businesses to promote boating safety.
Businesses Participating in the Program Benefit in Several Ways
-
Program Visitors provide businesses with a small display rack and stock it with free literature providing the latest information on topics such as boating safety, federal and state boating laws and regulations, maritime security, aquatic nuisance species and more.
-
Literature encourages boaters to obtain and use appropriate safety equipment. This emphasis on safety may increase sales.
-
Providing the information to customers helps businesses project a positive, community-oriented image to the public by promoting safe and responsible boating to their customers.
-
Program Visitors are available as a resource to the business to answer questions or educate staff on boating safety issues or legal requirements such as how to properly apply registration numbers or make sure navigation lights included with boats meet legal requirements.
-
Program Visitors can act as a point of contact with the Coast Guard to address concerns such as technical questions, vessel documentation, recall status, reference sources, and more.
